Whether you live for football season or celebrate the ending of it, I have listed 7 reasons to love the Super Bowl that have nothing to do with football. And as a special treat, I have listed one of my “Skinny Swaps” below. We will just call this reason number 8 to love the Super Bowl (everyone loves this dish!) Enjoy!

  1. The food: Whether you are at the game, at a friends’ house, at your local watering hole or cozied up on the couch– the food is amazing. Who needs a reason to indulge? This girl! The Super Bowl is a holiday. Eat, drink, and be merry!
  2. The clothes: The Super Bowl is literally the United States of theme parties. Who doesn’t love a good costume? Lucky for us, we can wear sweats representing our team and roam the town like ballers. Being comfortable never looked so good.
  3. Easy topics of conversation: The weather, the players, the owners, the coaches, the city, the stadium, the half time show, the food, the one time you went to that game, and so on and so forth. Introverts welcome! There is always something to discuss. Don’t worry if the conversation dies down- yell at the T.V., get another drink, eat a wing, dip that chip. It is always great fun!
  4. The really remarkable and uplifting stories and chartable acts of some of our players: Check out this link to see some of the great charities our players are involved with or for you Panther fans watch the Blindside to fall in love with Michael Oher all over again.
  5. Commercials: Enough said- M’erica
  6. Half time: Whether you use this time to run to the store, prepare more snacks or watch Beyonce love Beyonce, half time is only ½ the fun.
  7. Go America Community and connection: My absolute favorite reason, I love the Super Bowl, is the unity it brings. It doesn’t matter if you are a republican or a democrat. There is only one wing that matters on this blissful day–the chicken wing. This is the day a Catholic and an Agnostic will high five. Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians will come together when there is a bad call. I love this day because, for a few hours, we are not divided by class, race, or religion; we are the Broncos, (or the Panthers) but all in all, we are Americans. And for me, this is the best reason to celebrate.

Although, I am in the school of thought that calories don’t count on holidays, I have also included one of my skinny swaps below. It is sooo good… You will still feel like you are cheating. Enjoy!

Crystal
After growing up in this city and as a Colorado native, Crystal has a deep love for these mountains, especially 'that mountain' and cherishes our symphonic sunsets. When she is not playing in our purple mountain backyard, teaching high school, taking classes at the University of Denver or happily engaged in the daily banalities, Crystal enjoys any excuse to dress up; She likes to go to the theater, laugh at comedy clubs, and of course, she loves girls’ nights out (regardless if that is with her girlfriends or her daughters.) She listens to old school rap, 90’s music or songs a little too ‘dramatic’ while lifting weights, and country music while cooking/baking. Although the mountains are her home, she is more of a sunshine and water kind of girl; summer is her absolute favorite season. She is the single mama to her two darling daughters. The three of them spend their time engrossed in dance parties, reading one more story and they always find the time to cuddle and laugh about everything and absolutely nothing. She is excited to share glimpses of her life with you. She assures you that by no means is she perfect; she is simply a mother trying to fiercely love her children, her people and her community. Oh, and of course—GO Pioneers, Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets and Sky Sox!
