December 1: Bear Creek by Candlelight | 5-8pm Join us for Bear Creek Nature Center’s annual holiday celebration! Take a walk on beautiful luminary-lit nature trails, enjoy live music, live animals, warm chili from Texas Roadhouse, hot chocolate and cookies. Say hello to Santa Claus and make a festive craft to take home. $4-5, prepaid registration required on-line or phone.

December 1: Manitou Springs Christmas Parade | 6pm The Manitou Christmas Parade is the 2nd annual event for our region. This celebration starts the holiday season for all of us and there will be no better way to experience this than spending it in Manitou Springs. Get into the spirit of giving by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the parade. Volunteers from Toys for Tots will be marching in the parade and will collect the toys from parade goers. FREE

December 2: Festival of Lights Family Fun Day | 10am-2pm Join the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum for our annual FREE holiday celebration. Enjoy a day of music, magic, crafts, activities and more led by CSPM and variety of community organizations. December 2: Festival of Lights Parade | 5:50pm Join us for a fun parade full of lights! This year’s theme is “Through the eyes of a child.” FREE

December 3: MAKEbreak at Michaels | 1-3pm Dazzle your guests with a gorgeous holiday wreath. Buy the wreath base, and the supplies to decorate it will be provided. Plus, Kids can make a free felt poinsettia! FREE with purchase

December 5: Storytime Yoga |9:30-10:30am Bring your children for a story followed by 30 minutes of mindful movement and breathing that follow themes of the story. $10 for first child; each additional child is $5.

December 6: Mindful and Mischievous Yoga| 9:30-10:30am Getting to yoga without the kids takes a lot. Why not bring them along?!? You’ll learn to seek and find stillness and peace despite everyday chaos. This class is focused on the adult while your children are able to follow along or play next to you. $10 includes one child/adult duo. Add $5 for each additional child.

December 7: Nature Adventures: Animals in Winter | 10-11:30am Children, ages 3-6 with an adult, will enjoy hands-on activities, puppet shows or stories, crafts, and a hike. Prepaid registration required on-line or phone, limit 24 participants $3 per person, including adults and siblings.

December 7: Electric Moonlight | 5:30-8:30pm Come experience a winter wonderland at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s first annual Electric Moonlight! This adults-only evening event will include all-inclusive samplings of food, beer, wine & spirits; live local musicians; warming fire pits; a chance to visit Santa Claus and over 85 light sculptures to enjoy as you stroll through the Zoo. December 9: Nature Hike with Santa | 10-11:30am Participate in the interactive reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” poem, and make snowflake crafts while waiting for Santa to arrive at Fountain Creek Nature Center. Then hike the nature trail with Santa to see what gifts nature gives us. Prepaid registration required on-line or phone. $3/member, $4/non-member.

December 9: Horse Drawn Wagon Rides |11:30am-1pm Enjoy the sounds of Suffolk Punch draft horses clip clopping down the Regional Trail with jingle bells and seasonal songs. Sponsored by the Miller and Evans Families. Weather permitting. Select ride time (11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., or 12:30 p.m.) when making required pre-paid reservations by phone or online. $7

December 10: Paint with Santa | 10-11:30am Spend Quality time with the Jolly old elf himself! We will guide you in making a treasured “Santa & Me Handprint Plate,” or other project of your choice. Santa will have a gift for each child! He will read a story and visit with the children while you take photos to your heart’s content! We will have a cookie decorating station set up as well. December 15: Museum Free Day | 10am-4pm Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Museum Free Days are just that, an opportunity for the public to enjoy our galleries free of charge. Museum Free Days are offered the third Friday of each month with hands-on art activities from 10a to 2p in the Smith Family Gallery. FREE

December 17: Cookies with Santa | 12:30-4pm The Colorado Springs Moms Blog is excited to announce our First Annual Cookies with Santa event, sponsored by The Front Range Home Team! This festive, family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, December 17th at Building Three Coffee Roasters. We will have TWO time slots to choose from; 12:30-2:00 pm and 2:30-4:00pm. Please make sure that you select the tickets for the time slot that you would like to attend. We have only 75 tickets per time slot due to space restrictions. *tickets will NOT be sold at the door

December 19: Holiday Drop and Shop | 9am-12pm Do you need extra time to finish up Christmas shopping, or a few “kid-free” hours for lunch/coffee with friends? This year we are once again hosting our annual DROP & SHOP event! We welcome kids ages 3-11 for this event where we’ll play sports & learn skills associated with soccer, football, volleyball, badminton and lacrosse. A small snack will be served (fruit—cuties or something like that…no peanuts, or gluten or milk products, etc.). December 19: Open Crafting for Kids| 10am-2pm Join our Comminity Outreach Artist Gay Houghtaling for a day of FREE crafting. This is a kid only event. December 27-29: Crafts & Critters at Camp Whiskers & Wags| 9am-3pm Looking for ways to keep the kids busy during winter break? Join us for new adventures and LOTS of fun! December 31: Kwanzaa Celebration 2-3:30pm Kwanzaa celebrates the best and highest values of the history, culture, philosophy, and achievements of African people (living in America and in other parts of the world). It doesn’t matter if you know a little or quite a bit about Kwanzaa. It’s a great celebration of family, community, and culture! FREE

December 31: New Year’s Eve with Mr. Guffaw |11am, 2pm, 4pm World class clown Jim Jackson creates laughs, silly tricks and giant soap bubbles. Ring in the New Year before it is bed-time for the little ones. $12

December 3: MAKEbreak at Michaels | 1-3pm Dazzle your guests with a gorgeous holiday wreath. Buy the wreath base, and the supplies to decorate it will be provided. Plus, Kids can make a free felt poinsettia! FREE with purchase

December 5: Storytime Yoga |9:30-10:30am Bring your children for a story followed by 30 minutes of mindful movement and breathing that follow themes of the story. $10 for first child; each additional child is $5.

December 6: Mindful and Mischievous Yoga| 9:30-10:30am Getting to yoga without the kids takes a lot. Why not bring them along?!? You’ll learn to seek and find stillness and peace despite everyday chaos. This class is focused on the adult while your children are able to follow along or play next to you. $10 includes one child/adult duo. Add $5 for each additional child.

December 10: MAKEbreak at Michaels | 1-3pm Tis the season for slime! Come in and customize your own into a fun snowman. All supplies are provided, including pre-made slime. FREE

December 15: Museum Free Day | 10am-4pm Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Museum Free Days are just that, an opportunity for the public to enjoy our galleries free of charge. Museum Free Days are offered the third Friday of each month with hands-on art activities from 10a to 2p in the Smith Family Gallery. FREE

December 16: Michael’s Kids Club | 10am-12pm They make Candy Cane Decorations, you shop! $2 per child

December 16: MAKEbreak at Michaels | 1-3pm Personalize a mug or make a painted rock photo holder for someone on your gift list. Mug decorating supplies will be provided when you buy a mug. All supplies for the rock photo holder will be provided at no cost. FREE with purchase

December 17: Cookies with Santa | 12:30-4pm The Colorado Springs Moms Blog is excited to announce our First Annual Cookies with Santa event, sponsored by The Front Range Home Team! This festive, family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, December 17th at Building Three Coffee Roasters. We will have TWO time slots to choose from; 12:30-2:00 pm and 2:30-4:00pm. Please make sure that you select the tickets for the time slot that you would like to attend. We have only 75 tickets per time slot due to space restrictions. *tickets will NOT be sold at the door

December 19: Open Crafting for Kids| 10am-2pm Join our Comminity Outreach Artist Gay Houghtaling for a day of FREE crafting. This is a kid only event. Each child ages 5-11 years old will be helped in creating holiday gifts from donated items. FREE card making and gift wrapping will also be available. FREE
