Girl’s Night Out: 5 NEW Places and Spaces for your BFFs

3

girl's night outI LOVE girl’s night out (GNO). It is one of my absolute favorite things to do. There is something exhilarating about getting dressed up or dressed down to spend an evening with my ladies that has me covering my calendar with little vibrant stars.

The only qualm that comes to mind is that despite the fun all my sistas bring to the table, I am tired of the same old routine. You know the one—dinner, drinks, and a Nicholas Sparks movie.

So as a mom, a girl and a friend, I compiled a list of 5 awesome, affordable but different (off the grid) places to take your besties:

The Serene: Cheyenne Mountain Resort Fire Pit

Walk in the front door and head straight back to the patio to catch up on deep conversations, share announcements or revelations or simply relax and enjoy the view.

This is where I would take my bestie to share my heart or to listen to hers. It is the perfect intimate setting. There is a free coffee and hot tea bar near the restrooms, or you can order the divine summer s’mores kit and drinks at Elevations Lounge.

The Lady Cave: O’Malley’s in Palmer Lake

What makes this place different than any other Irish pub?

Well… not only do they offer private parties, karaoke, shots, beer, etc… but they are the ONLY steak pub around. They have quality meat that you can grill yourself (if you so choose). Be the grill master, shoot the darts, take the shots, order another round and do it all in your Tom’s and favorite tee. It’s like a man cave but it’s not. O’Malley’s is our secret lady cave.

The “I-Want-To-Get-My-Craft-On”: Paint the Town

There are many wine and art nights popping up all over town… so what makes this place different? The mother and daughter team, Bev and Taylor, of course. They will guide you step-by-step OR (and here is the big difference) allow you to create whatever you want using their supplies; they will let you paint, do mixed media art, use glitter.

Finally a place to be free to spend the evening being a mad artist (or at least pretending to be.) I always have such a great time that I have to come back without my friends to actually finish my paintings (always too busy gabbing and laughing).

Oh, and brownie points—they are also passionate sex trafficking fighters and have a little store that helps to support that fight. Don’t take my word for it, grab your crew and head down there.

The FREE (or ALMOST free) Spa Day: VillaSport, Lifetime Fitness or the Downtown YMCA

You don’t have to be members to enjoy these facilities. A day pass will run you anywhere from free to $15. At Lifetime, you can get a week pass for free. At the YMCA, you are able to get a 3 day pass for free. Not bad for a spa day.

What You Need:

Bathing suit, robe (optional), towel, wash cloth, bottle of water, face wash, face scrub, face mask, eye cream, serum, face cream and your girlfriends

What To Do:

  1. Grab your closet girlfriends, change into your bathing suit or robe and head to the steam room with a washcloth and a bottle of water.
  2. I use the samples of face wash that I get from the Whole Foods basket, but you of course can use whatever you have and deep cleanse your face and then exfoliate.  (Tip: bring your favorite essential oil, place a few drops on your hand and breath in)
  3. Head on over to the hot tub and put on your face mask. Try Sephora’s Glam Glow, or a cheaper version, found at Whole Foods, is Giovanni D:tox Purifying facial mask.
  4. Once your mask is ready to be removed, rinse your face, grab your serum and face lotion and head into the sauna. Put on an extra thick layer and allow your skin to absorb the moisture.
  5. And you’re done! A much cheaper version of a deep cleansing facial.

(Note: At VillaSport, you can order lunch to the locker room with a bottle of wine. Lifetime has the BEST protein shakes. And the downtown YMCA is going to be the best bang for your buck.)

Girl’s Night Out or Girl’s Night In

Sometimes, the best girl’s night out is a night in.

Are we too old for a good old fashioned slumber party? I don’t think so! I had a list of fun activities that you could do on a Girl’s Night In (GNI), but whether we do a book club, Netflix marathon, Pinterest party or any other activity, the only thing that we will really end up doing is chatting the night away, drinking wine and eating.

So grab your sleeping bags, your favorite appetizer or dessert and head into the living room with the girls you just want to have fun with!

Crystal
After growing up in this city and as a Colorado native, Crystal has a deep love for these mountains, especially 'that mountain' and cherishes our symphonic sunsets. When she is not playing in our purple mountain backyard, teaching high school, taking classes at the University of Denver or happily engaged in the daily banalities, Crystal enjoys any excuse to dress up; She likes to go to the theater, laugh at comedy clubs, and of course, she loves girls’ nights out (regardless if that is with her girlfriends or her daughters.) She listens to old school rap, 90’s music or songs a little too ‘dramatic’ while lifting weights, and country music while cooking/baking. Although the mountains are her home, she is more of a sunshine and water kind of girl; summer is her absolute favorite season. She is the single mama to her two darling daughters. The three of them spend their time engrossed in dance parties, reading one more story and they always find the time to cuddle and laugh about everything and absolutely nothing. She is excited to share glimpses of her life with you. She assures you that by no means is she perfect; she is simply a mother trying to fiercely love her children, her people and her community. Oh, and of course—GO Pioneers, Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets and Sky Sox!

  1. I’ve only been to the Cheyenne Resort once for a conference, but I LOVED it. What a great idea to meet at the fire for a cozy chat!!! I’m going to have to remember that for next time… Thanks for this post, Crystal!
