Here are some things I’ve found as I’ve volunteered: I meet new friends. I grow and develop skills I didn’t even know I had. And I have fun – serving others takes the focus off my problems and allows me to see how I can help others in their struggles.
I’ve learned that I don’t have to consume everything that’s put in front of me. I get to choose what I read and listen to. But more importantly, I get the opportunity to make the time to learn more about how to do this work that I’ve chosen, and how to do it well.
