The Colorado Pumpkin Patch

We are so thankful to the Colorado Pumpkin Patch for providing this sponsored post. However, the thoughts and feelings are our own as we only share companies that we personally know, and love!

“I’m so glad that I live in a world where there are Octobers.” – Anne of Green Gables

Although I spend several months anticipating the warmth of summer, by the time August rolls around I’m anxious for fall. I look forward to leggings, boots, and warm comfy socks. I dream of hot apple cider, pumpkin spice lattes, and afternoon tea. I plan crock-pot meals and nurturing soups for my family’s bellies. There is just so much to do, see, smell, and eat. We’re blessed to live in a state where we get to experience every season, especially fall. To see the leaves change, feel the air crisp, and stand in awe of our mountain in the midst of it.

In addition to all of these, I’ve especially looked forward to bringing my littles to the local pumpkin patch; and to be quite honest, snap the obligatory adorable pumpkin pictures to post on my social media feeds. But, where to go? There seem to be countless options for where to find your perfect pumpkin, but what about having fun too?

I was pleasantly surprised by the various activities that we could participate in at the Colorado Pumpkin Patch. From gourd target practice, a tractor hayride, pony rides and face painting to 80 foot straw slides and a 60 foot jumping pillow; there’s enough activities to guarantee a long, quiet drive back home. Nestled next to the Jellystone Park in Larkspur, the Colorado Pumpkin Patch is an easy find and right off the highway. Your admission includes EVERYTHING except face painting, pony rides, the concessions and pumpkins. You can pay for everything at the park with either cash or credit.

 Everyone will have fun.

My toddler spent most of his time at the gourd target practice, the straw slides, and the large tube swings. Thankfully during the weekday it’s not extremely busy, so it doesn’t feel as if you are competing to enjoy the different stations. For us, that meant several trips down the slide and actually having to drag our son away when it was time to leave. That’s the ultimate toddler seal of approval in my book! Older kids might enjoy the outdoor laser tag, the football training camp, or the outdoor large yard games; like Jenga. You could easily spend several hours here, depending on which particular station your kids love best. And there are so many!

Let’s get practical.

Colorado Pumpkin Patch also has a concession stand stocked with popcorn, soda, chips, and even homemade preserves. But, if like me, you prefer to pack your snacks and drinks, this is definitely an option. The patch is located in an exposed area so come prepared with sunscreen and sun protection if you happen to go when it’s still a little hot, because you know Colorado can’t ever make up its mind. There are a few picnic tables located within the grounds under some shade. But I would recommend bringing an umbrella, a blanket and set up somewhere on the grounds for your own family picnic. Make a day of it! Since you are free to roam and play for as long as you want while at the Colorado Pumpkin Patch, this makes the day more enjoyable so as not to be impeded by hangry babes (and husbands). Also, while we were there, I saw moms with strollers and moms with baby carriers. We were so thankful that we brought our BOB stroller, especially when our son was just done with walking. Come prepared and your family will enjoy themselves even more.

Okay, so what about the pumpkins?

Of course, the best part of our day was picking out our pumpkin. Colorado Pumpkin Patch is a pre-picked patch which means that their pumpkins are brought in from various other farms in Colorado. My son ran from pumpkin to pumpkin, touching them all and trying so hard to pick them all up. And of course, you know I tried to get that picture! There were so many pumpkins to choose from, and I imagine as we get further into October there will be even more. Despite all the choices, and a mini argument about which pumpkin was best we finally added an eight pounder to our family and walked out of the pumpkin patch tired, happy, and ready to really celebrate fall.

It may seem early to be thinking about this, but if Hobby Lobby is, then I’m totally game. But, The Colorado Pumpkin Patch is already gearing up for Christmas. Each week they have a contest over on Facebook for the photos and videos families post on their Facebook page of themselves at the pumpkin patch. The picture with the most likes and shares combined gets a free admission to the Illumination Light Show for the holidays. Winners are announced each week! Time for some FALL FAMILY FUN!
