Dion’s Pizza: The Best Recipe for Busy Moms

0
This post is brought to you by our partners at Dion's Pizza, but all thoughts and opinions are our own.

As a busy mom, I’m always fretting over the best recipe for dinner for my growing boys and hardworking husband. No matter how prepared I am for our week ahead, something almost always derails my plan by mid-week and has me scrambling for an easy dinner.

I spent a few years living in Albuquerque before I was married and started a family. Dion’s Pizza was my favorite local ABQ spot for delicious pizza sprinkled with green chiles. I distinctly remember being sad to leave Dion’s as I was moving back to my beloved Colorado Springs, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when a local store opened here! Dion’s is the best recipe for busy moms, and here is why…

SIMPLE INGREDIENTS

You are a mom, so you I know you are busy. Food allergies are on the rise in kids these days, and I am certain that sifting through a restaurant’s menu to find allergy-safe ingredients does not help a busy mom’s workload. I was delighted to find this SPECIAL DIETS WIZARD on Dion’s Pizza’s website. Simply click the ingredients you want to avoid, and the website redirects to a menu that shows what you and your kids can have! Amazing!

QUICK TURN AROUND TIME

Running around crazy after soccer practice or on your way to a baseball game? Me too! Call ahead or order online at Dion’s and whip around the DRIVE THRU LANE to pick up your food! Yes, that’s right…on your way to and from activities you can grab pizza, subs, salads and more to feed your crew without unloading and reloading everyone into their car seats. Every brilliant business model should have a drive-thru (if only for moms), and Dion’s has this one nailed!

FEEDING A CROWD? DION’S HAS IT COVERED

Three words. Carry-Out Catering. Friends…my husband loves to entertain and have guests over to our house, and I do too, but I freeze up at the idea of cooking for everyone! It is a stressor for me even when I love the social aspect of entertaining. At Dion’s, you can carry-out catering for 20-50 people, order sub platters and dessert trays, or choose from the a-la-carte menu to get just what you need. Note that some items on the carry-out catering menu may require 24 hours notice. I’m really great at calling in orders and picking up food for a crew (just don’t ask me to cook from scratch!).

MY FAVORITES

My boys and I frequent Dion’s, especially on nights when my husband is working his overnight shifts. The Duke City pizza is my go-to (thinner crust, turkey, GREEN CHILE, cheddar, and parmesan). It is amazing. I also love the Crunchy Spinach Salad. Dion’s has world-famous Ranch Dressing, and if you like a little heat, try the Green Chile Ranch Dressing. So yummy! I would love to hear what your favorite menu items are too!

Tonya
Tonya grew up in Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she majored in Health Promotion (the degree you choose when you know are meant to make an impact but you don’t know exactly how) After graduating in 2003, her adventurous spirit lead her to pack up her little car and move to Colorado Springs. Her heart was easily won by the beautiful landscape, the amazing weather, colorful Aspen trees, and the fabulous people in this city. In 2008, she married her love and best friend, Ryan. They added two amazing boys to the family…Landon (2009) and Kellan (2011). After a rewarding career as a Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a sales representative for Pfizer, her heart desired more time with her boys. In 2011, she became a work from home mom, focusing on her very busy boys full time and her health and wellness coaching business part time! Her passion as a mom includes building legos, trips to the zoo, family hikes, fishing, and camping. Her passion as a health coach is helping people see their potential, reach goals, and lead a healthy lifestyle. In her spare time (what is that again??), she loves working out, running, and reading. Her favorite things to do with her handsome hubby include riding bikes downtown Colorado Springs for date nights, hiking the incline, trying new (exotic) foods, spending time with great (adult) friends, and trying craft beers (inspired of course by her husband!).
